Warhammer 40K Anniversary Celebration Paintover

As I mentioned in my previous post, as a celebration of the 25th birthday of the Warhammer 40,000 game universe I have been creating a full colour paintover of one of my 5 original drawings which appeared in the first 40K rulebook back in 87 - not in an attempt to update this image to fit the present-day canon of that universe, but to re-present the original image in a new way. I had a lot of fun with it, so I hope you all like it!! The original appears below for comparison. (Click the images to see in their entirety)

  1. Hey Tony , really like you reinterpretation of that classic. the background colours are really nice.

Don't sweat not being a good sales man , I would say it was something to be proud of tbh, but then again I am a poor artist ;-)
    Thanks for sharing these.

  2. Loving the paintovers. You planning on doing anymore Bloodbones, or perhaps some Knights of Doom ones?

  3. I enjoy doing them and exploring how much further I can take the image. As to Knights of Doom I'd have to use scans from the book as the artwork originals from that one went 'walkies' somewhere between Puffin and the printers (oh! the perils to artwork originals in the days before t'internet!!) though of course I have the cover, despite the postman trying to fold it in half!
If you've a favourite in mind that you'd like to see in colour, just name it, Jon, and I'll see what I can do!!
